What does Arterial do?
Arterial turns road footage into a living system of record for U.S. infrastructure. You get visibility into assets near the road, how conditions are changing, and what needs attention next.
We use miles your fleet already drives to produce mapped context and a current operating picture.
How does passive collection work?
Passive collection means we use cameras already in the field while crews run normal routes.
Standard footage goes in. AI returns location, condition, and geometry so teams can spend more time fixing issues.
Do we need dedicated hardware to get started?
Collection is lightweight. Many teams start with our low-cost windshield camera (ARTIE), which installs in about fifteen minutes.
The platform accepts standard camera input, so you can start quickly without a specialized survey rig.
What roadway issues and assets can Arterial help identify?
Arterial identifies and inventories visible infrastructure near the road, including signs, hydrants, manholes, delineators, drainage features, and markings.
The goal is a trusted, living inventory for planning and prioritization.

How does prioritization work?
Your backlog should not be locked to one severity score. Arterial supports dynamic prioritization based on agency goals, seasonality, active campaigns, and field context.
Traffic exposure, functional class, lane position, and repair history can all shape what rises first.
How current is the infrastructure record?
Think living inventory, not a static survey. Every drive refreshes the network picture, with about 90% jurisdictional coverage every two weeks (based on one camera for every 70 lane miles).
03Governance and trust
Security, privacy, accessibility, ownership, and policy expectations.
How does Arterial approach data security and privacy?
You retain control of your data. We do not sell it or share it with third parties without permission.
We protect data with AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit, and strict access controls.
We do not collect personally identifiable information. Our pipeline scrubs people, vehicles, and identifiable details from imagery.
What is Arterial's commitment to accessibility and ADA compliance?
Public infrastructure software should be accessible to everyone who depends on it.
Arterial platforms are built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA and reviewed during design and QA.
Who owns the data and outputs?
Data collected by your vehicles and within your service area remains yours. No other customer has access to it, and we will never use or share it beyond what you explicitly opt into.
Arterial may use aggregated, de-identified data to improve detection and platform performance without exposing your jurisdiction.
You own your operational data and outputs. We operate and improve the platform within clearly defined boundaries.

Who is Arterial built for?

Is this similar to performance-based contracting (ESCO-style models)?
There is overlap in spirit: both approaches are designed to improve outcomes without forcing teams into a large upfront technology overhaul before value is visible.
Arterial is not an ESCO contract template, and payment structure depends on the agreement. We can support commercial models that align with measurable operational outcomes while fitting your procurement path.
